During his time in Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Kyoto, Japan, Rauschenberg created suites of drawings. Made on ceremonial mats and Japanese dedication boards, the artist used solvent transfer, watercolor, gouache, pencil, and occasionally gold leaf to create highly lyrical works on paper.
