I had a opportunity to visit with my friend Jonathan Ward and see what he was up too as of late with his ICON brand of amazing precision curated vehicles handmade in Los Angeles, California. If your not familiar with what he does, then the best way to describe it is by thinking how can I make the best product period at the highest level without budgets and material limitations for the most part. Like the norm within the auto industry because of the all mighty profit margin. ICON is as they say “Drawn From Inspiration, Not Mass Production.” I love that and it shows immediately once you look at any of his completed works. They’re currently focused on producing the Bronco, FJ Toyota, Jeep CJ3B Willie, Reformer Edition Dodge d200 Power Wagon and one of my favorites the Thriftmaster truck, bringing a deja vu moment reincarnating classic utility vehicles that have strong followings since the 60’s. But that s not all they do, they have a one off series of vehicles called Derelicts & Reformers where you choose almost any vehicle from the 1930’s and forward then let Jonathan do his thing to reinvent it with the latest technology and beyond for daily driving but with whole lot of horsepower but with good manners, like the 1948 Buick with about 700hp with its supercharged Corvette power plant we took out for a spin that’s pictured below. Every vehicle is built with uncompromising excellence and just to give you a example. The sun visor in the FJ Series ICON truck comes from a Learjet and the Reformer Edition Land Rover Defender (pictured) interior is signature PARABELLUM bison leather. Everything is considered for standards of durability and aesthetics. It’s really hard to describe the level they take things to without you seeing it in person. I love Jonathan’s mindset and what he has brought to market that’s truly unique and after our great catch up meeting I cant wait for whats to come. You can see a expansion of that in the E-Flyer bike they now offer (Pictured). Its a electric bike with a 30 mile range and 36mph top speed in race mode. Its a great looking bike you can get in any of the ICON signature matte powder coats, overall your getting the best materials and mechanics as in the ICON vehicles. Consistency is very important to me from a brand and it is all over the place at ICON, well done Jonathan as I’m not surprised.
